Happy New Year fellow crafters and welcome to the first Paper Adventures blog hop for 2021. I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year and that you were able to spend time with your family and friends. We are very blessed here in Western Australia in that we are living a fairly normal lifestyle with just a few restrictions. My wish for 2021 is that we will all have access to an effective Covid-19 vaccine.
Thank you for joining me for our January blog and a big welcome to Linda Dalke who is joining us as our Guest Designer. Linda is a very talented designer and I am looking forward to seeing her beautiful designs. The theme for this month is “New” – New Year, new friendships, new baby and of course wonderful new products in the new January-June Mini Catalogue, the possibilities are endless.
On Christmas Day two very close family friends, Eileen and Brian, became grandparents for the third time to Oliver George. Congratulations to Emma and Aaron on the safe arrival of your beautiful baby boy. A new baby, what a wonderful end to the roller coaster year of 2020 and a new beginning for 2021. Yes you guessed it, my interpretation of the theme is New Baby.
I started off by making a card for Oliver using the Playful Alphabet and the now retired Bonanza Buddies. I think the Playful Alphabet is my most used item from the 2020/2021 annual catalogue, I just love it. The card base is Daffodil Delight topped with a Bermuda Bay matt. To make the letters I added a strip of the SU foam adhesive sheets to a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock, die cut them using the new mini Stampin’ cut and emboss machine and attached them to a Whisper White and Daffodil Delight dies, both of which are from the Stitched So Sweetly die set. The sentiment inside the card is from the new Punch Part stamp set which you can only get if you place an order of over $500.

For my second project I made a baby sampler using quite a few different sets both current and retired. I made this in traditional “blue for a boy” colours – Night of Navy, Smoky Slate and Whisper White and the DSP is from the retired Twinkle, Twinkle. The Bonanza Buddy lion made another appearance as dad Aaron is a massive West Coast Eagle fan (colours blue and gold). I am sure that as Oliver gets older he will be guided towards the WCE 😄.

To complete my presents for Oliver, and with his dad in mind, I machine embroidered a towel for him. Watch out AFL, Oliver is coming.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing what I have created as much as I enjoyed making them. Next on the blog hop is Robyn, click on the Next button below to see what wonderful creations she has in store for you.
