Social Stamping blog host – Friends

Hi everybody and welcome to our fourth Social Stamping blog host which is organised by the wonderful Kelly Kent. I can’t believe that it is over three weeks since our lives all changed and we began our Social Distancing. I am so grateful to Kelly for coming up with this amazing idea to keep us all in touch, spending lots of time in my craft room has been keeping me sane. As well as making cards I am also doing Diamond Painting which is cross stitch meets painting by numbers using beads, I find it very therapeutic.

Our theme for this week is Friends, during these challenging times we all need our family and friends. A few weeks ago it was the birthday of a very special friend of mine and I would like to share with you, as my project for this blog hop, the gift and card that I made for her.

My gift to her was a sampler using the colour scheme in her house – Basic Black, Real Red and Whisper White.

The layout for the sampler is as follows, the measurements are at the  the bottom of the post.  The bottom layer is Basic Black with a layer of Whisper White on top, for the smaller layers I have used the Golden Honey DSP as the black and white designs are so pretty, these were layered on Basic Black.  For the flowers I stamped the flower from Floral Essence stamp set with Versamark on Real Red cardstock and sprinkled with white embossing powder and heat set, the leaves were done the same way on Whisper White and both flowers and leaves were punched out and attached with dimensionals. I attached a little bee as a fun embellishment. The letters for Kristine were diecut from the Hand Lettered Prose die set. The sentiments are from Peaceful Moments and Waterfront.

Measurements for the sampler

9” x 9” piece of DSP or cardstock – bottom matt

8 3/8” x 8 3/8”     “.               “.       – next layer

8”x 8”.                  “.              “.        – top layer

1 piece 7 5/8” x 2 7/16” topped with 7 1/2” x 2 5/16”

3 pieces 2 7/16” x 2 7/16” topped with 2 5/16” x 2 5/16”

2 pieces 5” x 2 7/16” topped with 4 7/8” x 2 5/16”

I made a matching card to complement the card, I loved making this set for my very special friend, I hope you enjoyed my sharing it with you

  1. Such a lovely gift. I’m so glad we’re still able to celebrate birthdays for friends even though we’re not able to celebrate together at the moment. So much work in a sampler – I’m sure she’ll cherish all the thought and effort. Kelly x
